You’re Not Crazy - It’s Just Your Hormones

Five Tips to Natural Balance

By Raquel Martin

Hormone balance is an issue throughout a woman’s life. It can interfere with all parts of your daily living.

Do you suffer from any of the following symptoms: osteoporosis, insomnia, depression, hot flashes, fibromyalgia, uterine fibroids, migraine, PMS, weight gain, endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, thyroid disorders, miscarriages, infertility, or cancer (breast, ovarian, uterine)?

Sample Cover     If you answered yes to two or more of these symptoms, you may be suffering from estrogen overload. Here are five tips from my book, The Estrogen Alternative.

1.      Eat hormone-free foods. The hormones and antibiotics given to animals to make them more productive are in the meat and dairy products you eat. This increases the level of estrogen in your body. Hormone-free meat and dairy products are the best way to avoid this. The chemicals in pesticides have the same effect. Buy organic fruits and vegetables. If this is not possible, wash them well before eating.

2.      Avoid hydrogenated vegetable oils. These oils not only affect your estrogen levels, but studies show they are linked to cancer. Instead, cook with and consume extra virgin olive oil, organic coconut oil, or organic butter.

3.      Watch the soy products. Soy products and powders contribute to increased levels of estrogen, which causes hormone imbalance, thyroid disorders, metabolism problems, and increased risk of cancer.  The only soy products that are healthy are fermented soy products like miso, tempeh, and tamari or soy sauce.

4.      Try stevia instead of sugar. When the sugar cravings hit, use stevia to satisfy your sweet tooth. It is natural alterative for sugar. Sugar will only make your symptoms worse, but stevia has several health benefits.

5.      Consider using natural wild yam progesterone cream. If your estrogen level is much higher than your progesterone level, progesterone cream is a safe and natural alterative to the synthetic forms. Research and see if it is right for you.
