Does Foot Detoxification Really Work?
Dr. Don Parkerson, Jr.
I must admit that I was very
skeptical of the idea of bodily toxins being removed through the feet. I had heard from patients and other
chiropractors how great this new detox procedure was, but I had to research it
for myself. This is what I found.
What is foot
detoxification?
There are several different types of ionic foot
detoxification units. Their purpose is
to remove excessive and stored waste from the body. These wastes accumulate due to poor diet, external stressors, and a multitude of
environmental toxins.
The treatment
works by sending energy through your feet soaked in warm, clean water.
The warm water causes the pores of your feet to open, which allows toxins to
release into the water. The color and
consistency of the water then changes and the theory is that certain color
changes in the water correlate to specific organs being detoxified.
Not all foot detoxifications are
created alike
I began my research by studying the various types of
units that claim to detoxify the body through the feet. There are dozens of different machines,
ranging from cheap home-use units to much higher quality machines.
From my research, 2 foot detoxification units stood
out as being the safest, most researched, and most effective. They are:
1.
Ion Cleanse –
made by A.M.D. – www.amajordifference.com
2.
EB Pro – made by
Erchonia
– www.erchonia.com
The next step was to become a patient myself, and
experience firsthand the effects of a foot detoxification.
The doctor becomes a
patient
To test the units personally, I became a patient and
made appointments with a couple of local clinics. I experienced both the Ion Cleanse and the EB
Pro units.
Below is a progression of an Ion Cleanse treatment
that was done on me, using the AMD Ion Cleanse machine.

§
1st
– Before treatment - At the
start of the treatment, the tub contains only my feet, warm tap water, and a
small amount of ionized salt.
§
2nd – 10 minutes into treatment – you can see an orange coloring to the water, indicating that toxins
have been removed from my joints.
§
3rd
– 20 minutes into treatment –
the water is a deeper orange, indicating continued detoxification of
joints. Starting to appear is a darker
brown color, indicating detoxification of my liver and the removal of excess
debris from cells.
§
4th
– 30 minutes – Treatment complete
– you now notice a yellowish center of the water, indicating detoxification of
my kidneys. Harder to see in this
picture are floating black flecks, which signifies the removal of heavy metals.

How do we know toxins are actually
removed from the body?
Despite watching the obvious
visual changes in the water, I was still skeptical of just what exactly made up
the distinct colors and patterns.
However, clinical research has proven this
technique of detoxification to be effective.
One particular research study stood out.
This clinical trial was
performed to determine the effectiveness of the Ion Cleanse treatment in
removing heavy metals through the feet of 9 study patients.
·
1st column - an average measurement of the metals present in the
water after a 30-minute Ion Cleanse session with water only (no feet). This indicates presence of metals in local
tap water.
·
2nd column - the amount of metals present in the water after a
30-minute Ion Cleanse session with both water and the patient’s feet.
·
3rd column - the percentage of increase in metals in the water
when the patients’ feet were added to the water. This indicates the amount of metals actually
pulled from the patients’ bodies.

more Lead, 339% more Aluminum, and 905% more Copper measured in the water after
an Ion Cleanse treatment on the patients’ feet, as compared to an Ion Cleanse
treatment on tap water only.
The only logical conclusion
from comparing column 1 and column 2 is that the increase in the amount of each
metal could have only come from the patients’ feet.

After the treatment . . . the toxic
water is only the beginning
One major effect of the Ion
Cleanse treatment is excitation of the cells of your body. This causes the cells to perspire, or release
more toxins over the next 24-48 hours after treatment. Your body efficiently eliminates these excess
wastes via 3 body systems:

1.
urinary tract
2.
digestive system
3.
perspiration
Of the 3, increased urine
output seems to be the most notable after-effect from receiving an Ion Cleanse
treatment. As such, increased water
intake during and after the treatment is required.
90% Bad – 10% Good
During
the removal of toxins from your body, it is inevitable that some vitamins and
minerals will also be removed. Experts
estimate that the Ion Cleanse treatments extract:
·
90% bad – toxins
that need to be removed
·
10% good –
vitamins and minerals
A wise precaution is to increase your vitamin intake
after treatment. If you typically take
1-2 multi-vitamins per day, just take one extra multi in the 24 hours following
Ion Cleanse.
Is it safe?
The Ion Cleanse machine is the only ionic foot detox unit of its
kind to have passed FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and CE (European
Conformity) electrical safety standards.
However, there are some contraindications for receiving this
treatment. You should NOT use the Ion Cleanse if you have any
of the following conditions:
·
Are
pregnant or lactating
·
Have
a pacemaker
·
Have
a transplanted organ
·
Have
a heart arrhythmia
·
Are
taking heart regulating medications
·
Have
an open wound on your feet
** It should
also be noted that because the Ion Cleanse increases metabolism and lowers
blood sugars, patients who suffer from hypoglycemia should eat prior to their
treatment.
