Sensational Summer Smoothies

Dr. Wayne Neal

Are you ready for a break from the summer heat? Try making a cool smoothie that is tasty and nutritious. Here are four of my favorite smoothies!

Fruit smoothie

Breakfast Smoothie

1-2 cups fresh or frozen berries (high in anti-oxidants)

1 banana (good for digestion)

1cup distilled water

1-2 Tbsp unheated honey (or 1 packet of Stevia)

1 Tbsp extra-virgin coconut oil

1 Tbsp flaxseed ground (high in Omega 3 fatty acids)

1 Tbsp goat’s milk protein powder

Cherry Smoothie

˝ cup fresh or frozen cherries (good anti-inflammatory fruit)

1 banana

1cup distilled water

1-2 Tbsp unheated honey or 1 packet of Stevia

“Non-Chocolate” Chocolate Shake

1 Tbsp of carob powder (chocolate taste without the caffeine)

1 banana

1cup distilled water

1-2 Tbsp unheated honey (or 1 packet of Stevia)

Let's See What We Have Here

Pina Colada Smoothie

10 oz coconut milk (contains the good fats the body needs)

1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple (good anti-inflammatory fruit)

1 banana

1cup distilled water

1-2 Tbsp unheated honey (or 1 packet of Stevia)

FYI

It is best to use organic fruits to avoid pesticides, especially with strawberries. If you can’t find fresh fruits, frozen will work fine. Also, distilled water will taste better than chlorinated tap water and is better for you. Enjoy keeping cool and healthy!
